The Nagoya Redbacks Australian Football Club, an idea founded by Shane Hardy and Steve Micallef over a few beers at the Red Rock on AFL Grand Final Day 2005, played it's first three years in the Osaka based NAFL competition, sweeping aside allcomers in three undefeated seasons. The Redbacks were admitted to play in the 2008 Narita Cup, the clubs first experience playing the Tokyo based JAFL league teams, and finished a commendable third on the day, before abandoning the NAFL and joining the JAFL top league for season 2009, and gaining a new major sponsor in Outback Steakhouse. Finishing third in 2009 after a slow start to the year, the Redbacks are looking forward to a strong season in 2010 as we build for the future of football in the Chubu region
