Interested in Aussie rules footy but not a bloke?? - no problems, join the Ladies of the Goannas Football club!! Not interested in Aussie rules footy so much.... but want to meet some top ladies in Tokyo and build your social networks?? - no problem, join the Ladies of the Goannas Football club.
The Ladies of the Goannas are a great group of females in Japan who have come together through a mutual interest in Australian Rules Football (whether it be their own.... or that of their husbands, boyfriends or friends) and good times. We attend many of the Goannas team matches to support the boys when they play but also have just as strong presence at Paddy Foleys Bar in Roppongi, many restaurans and even more so at the many social events.
We are a really diverse group of women from all different nationalities and occupations living across greater Tokyo. If you're an Australian (or other) female who's just moved to Tokyo (or if you've been here for sometime) and are looking to make some new friends, have a few drinks, or just join a great social group, then the Tokyo Goannas are for you!.
Many of us are regulars at Paddy Foleys Bar in Roppongi, (where the boys go to watch the AFL matches oover the weekend) so feel free to drop in any time if you are looking to meet new people (Just ask any of the bar staff if any of the Goannas are around and they'll point you in the right direction). They serve Australian beer and wine (at a discounted price to Goannas members), have a great menu, international music and a great atmosphere. The girls also love to get together for coffee or dinner and a few wines, and are always open to new company any time!!
We also have a great social network across Japan with connections to many social clubs, sporting and otherwise, and since many of us speak both English and varying levels of Japanese we are a great information resource for foreigners living in Japan.
Along side the Goannas gents events, we are planning a heap of fabulous events for this year (check out our page for a more detailed list), the first of which is the ANZAC Day opening Party. These events are open to everyone and anyone so come along and check it out. If you wish to become a Goannas member then we will put you on the mailing list and you'll receive more information about Goannas events (for the ladies and for the club) and you'll receive information about special Goannas offers.
Remember - behind every (good?) football team, there is an amazing group of women!!
Look forward to it ladies,
Loz

Goannas Ladies 2010
In addition to "playing footy in Japan with your mates", the Goannas have a large number of female members who have planned a busy social
calendar for 2010. We are looking to step up the involvement of females in the club this year and hope to have some sensational events. We also hope, that with the help of our female members, we can organise more social events in 2010 for the whole club, players, partners and friends.
We are hoping to organise a Day at the Races (Melbourne cup style), preceded of course by a champagne breakfast (whole club participation
but also interested in hosting a ladies day if we can get numbers together).
Now that the weather is improving we are also looking to hold some outdoor BBQ's and picnics (thanks to our Fosters sponsorship we have
some great equipment ready to go), at the parks and rivers around Tokyo.
As well as supporting the boys from the side lines, and watching the Aussie AFL games at the pub this season, we are organising some
special events for the ladies of the Goannas.
So far, on the cards for 2010 is
-Ladies weekend/s away (coinciding with the Osaka (8th May) and
Nagoya (19th June) footy trips)
-Ladies day (coinciding with the gentlemen's day in August)
-Regular champas brekkies, brunches and lunches
-Wine tasting night
-Dinner and Movies nights
-Cooking classes
to name a few.....
I would also like to organise a few 'pampering events' to have before the Race day and the Ball (or anytime for that matter) where we could
attend a salon as a group and get massages, nails etc done.
I am currently approaching salons, bars, restaurants, movie theaters etc seeking support for the Goannas Ladies. As a social member you
will receive a goannas keychain that can be used at certain venues giving you a permanent discount. If you are a business interested in
supporting the Goannas in this way, or know of a business that may be interested, please don't hesitate to contact me for more information.
If you are interested in becoming a Goannas club member, you can join the Goannas, for 2500 yen/year, at any of our events or through the
website (click here). All ladies are welcome to join, you need not be Australian or know anyone in the Goannas to get on board.
Additionally, if you have any other event ideas/suggestions or are interested in helping me organise any of these events please let me
know.
New special for Goanna Ladies - 10% off all treatments at Gold Salon Tokyo. See sponsor page for more info.
